Arlington A. “Jim” Schuchart, 95, of Abbottstown, died Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Columbia Cottage in Hanover. He was the husband of the late Marie Elizabeth (Scheivert) Schuchart, who passed away on April 17, 2017, his wife of 70 years.
Jim was born February 2, 1922 in Hanover, the son of the late William Henry and Ellen Agnes (Topper) Schuchart.
Jim was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Abbottstown. Jim retired from the Hearst Corp., Baltimore, MD as a Printing Pressman, in 1982, after 35 years of service, (Baltimore News American). He was a life member of American Legion, Baltimore MD, New Oxford Social and Athletic Club, Catholic War Veterans, Bonneauville, and a life member of V.F.W. Richard J. Gross Post 8896. Jim served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II in France, Luxemburg and Germany.
Jim is survived by three sons; Wayne J. Schuchart and his wife Becky of Nokomis, FL, James E. Schuchart and his wife Tina of Venice, FL and Gary A. Schuchart and his wife Debbie of Baltimore, MD, three grandchildren; David Schuchart, Jill Schuchart, and Craig Schuchart, and a sister, Velaire V. Meck of Riverside, CA. He was predeceased by 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 10 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 6084 W. Canal Rd., Abbottstown, with Rev. Timothy D. Marcoe officiating. Burial will follow at St. Vincent’s Cemetery, S. Jefferson St., Hanover. Military Honors will be conducted by the Allied Veterans Group of Hanover. There will be a viewing at the church on Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 9 -10 AM. The Feiser Funeral Home, Inc., 306 Harrisburg St., East Berlin, is in charge of arrangements.
