Wilbert "Wil" Shipe, Jr. Obituary

Wilbert G. “Wil” Shipe, Jr, CW3 U.S. Army retired, 88, of New Oxford, entered into God’s eternal rest and care, on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at his residence.  He was the husband of Karoline (Kraxner) Shipe.

Wil was born September 20, 1929, in Trevorton, the son of the late Wilbert G. and Emma F. (Hester) Shipe, Sr.

Wil was a military careerist, serving in Austria, Germany and Korea as well as serving at a number of locations in the United States.  He was then employed by T.B. Woods Company in Chambersburg for 21 years, and has several years of service with Leader Heights Nursing and Rehab in Chambersburg.  He was active in volunteer activities in the Chambersburg area as well as at the Brethren Home Community in New Oxford.  He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Chambersburg, the Military Officers Association, and a life member of Charles Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post #1559, and the Military Order of the Cootie Pup Tent #72. 

In addition to his wife Karoline, Wil is survived by two sons, Gilbert and his wife Deanna of Marlinton, WV, and Richard and his wife Holly LaBrasca-Shipe of New Providence, his grandchildren whom he adored, Eli Shipe, and Cecilia Shipe, two great grandchildren, Aubrey and Gabriel Shipe, a step granddaughter, Diondra North, a brother, Jack Shipe, and two sisters, Nancy Shipe and Audrey Campbell and her husband Dan.  He was predeceased by a brother Kenneth Shipe.
