Phyllis (de la Chappelle) Whisenand, 80, was called home to her Father, on Sunday, March 15, 2020, at her home. She was the wife of Thomas G. Whisenand, her husband of 21 years.
A child of God, Phyllis was born February 14, in Scranton, PA during the blizzard of 1940.
Phyllis’ love of learning and education lead her to pursue a career in academia. She was employed as an office manager for Career Services at the University of Scranton and the Fine Arts Department at Susquehanna University.
Phyllis was a member of Emmanuel U.C.C. in Hanover, and the Silver Sneakers at Messiah Lifeways in Mechanicsburg. She was a published poet and prize winning photographer. Phyllis loved her family deeply, and was extremely generous with her time, money and self.
In addition to her husband Tom, Phyllis is survived by two daughters, Nadine Scheller-Blasko and her husband Conrad of Stewartstown, and Christa L. Aycock of Clearfield, and three grandchildren, Joshua Paul, Sarah Helene and Aaron Philip.
A memorial service to celebrate Phyllis’ life will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2020, at 11 AM, at Emmanuel U.C.C., 124 Broadway, Hanover, with Rev. Russell D. Clark officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Harrisburg, 7790 Grayson Rd, Harrisburg, PA 17111. Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 306 Harrisburg St, East Berlin, is in charge of arrangements.
