Norman F. Sponseller, Sr, 82, died Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Idella L. (Forry) Sponseller, his wife of 62 years.
Norman was born March 15, 1936, in Hanover, the son of the late Ernest L. and Margie (Stremmel) Sponseller.
Norman retired in May 2017, from E.C. Lemmon after 61 years of service, was a life member of Hampton Fire Company, and attended Cross Keys Fellowship in New Oxford.
In addition to his wife Idella, Norman is survived by two daughters, Bonnie L. Laughman and her husband Jeff of Spring Grove, and Connie L. Hilbert of Dover, three sons, Norman F. Sponseller, Jr and his wife Penny of East Berlin, Brian F. “Smoke” Sponseller and his wife Deb of New Oxford, and Eric F. Sponseller and his wife Amy of New Oxford, 11 grandchildren, Craig, Kevin, Lindy, Laura, Danny, Jessie, Toby, Keshia, Dustin, Emily and Abbey, six great grandchildren, Peyton, Layne, Macy, Harper, Madisyn and Daityn, a sister, Helen Hockensmith of Gettysburg, and his four legged companion, Molly. He was predeceased by his siblings, Nadine, Naomi, Delores, Charles, Robert, Shirley and Burnell, and a son-in-law, Joe Hilbert,
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at 11 AM at Cross Keys Fellowship, 785 Berlin Rd, New Oxford, with Pastor Sandy Adams officiating. Burial will be in Hampton Union Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church. Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford, is in charge of arrangements.
