Mark L. Rickrode, Jr, 66, passed Friday, November 10, 2023, with his loving family by his side.
Mark was born June 3, 1957, in Hanover, the son of the late Mark L. and Doris M. (Bentzel) Rickrode, Sr.
Mark was a 1975 graduate of York Vo-Tech with a degree in diesel mechanics, and was formerly employed at Duke Tire and Shack Engineering in Hanover, before owning and operating Mark’s Automotive for 19 years. He was a member of E.M.M.R., Dillsburg, Penn-Mar Vintage Racing Club, York County Racing Club, and A.A.C.A., Hershey. He enjoyed racing his vintage race cars, going to car shows and auctions, listening to doo-wop and country music, eating shrimp, and spending time with his family and friends. He was humble, hardworking, and a great guy who will be missed by many! Mark was looking forward to opening his museum, “Cruisin’ Back in Time”, which his family and friends would still like to make happen in his memory.
We would like to thank the many life-long friends, extended family members, customers, and everyone who knew Mark for their love and support during this difficult time. Mark made many friends throughout the years working on customer's cars and being involved in the racing communities. Racing was a passion of his; he followed racing from a very young age, helped many along the way, knowing all about racing. His his favorite driver was Kenny Weld.
Please feel free to wear your favorite racing attire, which Mark would like.
Mark is survived by two brothers, Scott A. Rickrode and Travis W. Rickrode, both of Hanover, a sister, Tina M. Hagarman and her husband Tim of Hanover, and two nephews, Wesley A. Hagarman and Vance M. Hagarman.
