Leo M. Baummer, 92, passed peacefully, Thursday, August 31, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Lola Celeste (Reynolds) Baummer, his wife of 66 years.
Leo was born February 20, 1931, in Baltimore, MD, the son of the late Anthony J. and Catherine A. (Grauer) Baummer.
Leo was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Air Force, and later worked on the Vanguard Missile in Cocoa Beach, Fl. Leo loved his family, faith, and being outdoors. Leo will be remembered for being a skilled artist.
In addition to his wife Celeste, Leo is survived by a son, Mark Baummer and his wife Mary Lynn of Stewartstown, three daughters, Susan E. Doll and her husband David of Seven Valleys, Janine M. Zell and her husband William of Columbia, and Lise C. Miller and her husband Barney of Wellsville, a son, John E. Baummer and his wife Christine of Dover, 14 grandchildren, Andrew Baummer, Joe Doll, Rachel Jones, Emily Gronski, Christopher Zell, Steven Zell, Nicholas Zell, Catherine Zell, Jesse Miller, Krista Krout, Shawn Baummer, Logan Baummer, Maria Baummer, and Jakob Baummer, 13 great grandchildren, Landen Baummer, Eli Jones, Isaiah Jones, Micah Jones, Xavier Jones, Leah Jones, Grayson Zell, Aurora Zell, Jesse Zell, Sabrina Zell, Jacob Miller, Jackson Krout, and Adam Gronski, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at 11 AM, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 6084 W. Canal Rd. Abbottstown, with Rev. Philip Burger officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. There will be no viewing. Memorial contributions may be made to EWTN.com.
