Karl E. Hershey, age 71, of Thomasville, PA passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 21, 2022.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferris E. Hershey and Kathleen M. Hershey, and his stepbrother, Lanny Heidler.
He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Joan S. Hershey; two daughters- Amy H. Taylor of Hanover and Sarah S. Swezey, of York; a stepbrother, Terry Heidler of Jacobus and 3 grandchildren- Bain M. Taylor and Gage M. Taylor of Hanover, and Joleen Swezey, of York.
Karl had been enjoying retirement for the past 5 years, after being an employee of the Spring Grove School District for the previous 18 years. Throughout his life, he enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, traveling, going to Hershey Park, and was a fantastic cook. He and Joan had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 22 of this year.
Karl was born in York, PA and lived with his parents until age 18, when he graduated high school in 1969. He then moved to Michigan where he met his future wife, a Saginaw, Michigan native. They moved back to PA in 1971 and were married, moving to their current home in Thomasville. Karl was always a hard worker, dedicated to providing for his family.
Funeral services are being held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Abbottstown, PA and will be Friday, June 17- visitation from 10AM to 11AM, and a service from 11AM to 12PM, with burial to follow.
