Karl R. Bankert, 81, passed Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Hanover Hall. He was the husband of Nancy L. (Barnhart) Bankert, his wife of 63 years.
Karl was born February 5, 1941, in Hanover, the son of the late Roland A. and Louise (Yost) Bankert.
Karl was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Oxford. He was an avid woodworker, the owner of New Oxford Variety Store, and Bankert’s Trophy, and he was formerly employed at New Oxford Aluminum.
In addition to his wife Nancy, Karl is survived by his children, Pamela J. Storm and her husband Joey of New Oxford, Gregory R. Bankert and his wife Amber of New Oxford, and Linda S. Yocum and her husband Craig of Middletown, four grandchildren, Drew Bankert, Maxwell Storm, Samuel Storm and Rachel Storm, two brothers, Timothy Bankert of AZ and Thomas Bankert of FL, and a sister, Joyce Gruver of Hanover. He was predeceased by a sister, Marie Wolf.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 28, 2022, at 11 AM, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 Lincoln Way East, New Oxford, with his pastor, Rev. Mike Seifried officiating. A visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 10 AM until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to First Evangelical Lutheran Church, or to VNA/Hospice, 440 N.
