Gerald L. Hoffheins

Gerald L. Hoffheins, 80, died Monday, May 28, 2018, at his residence.  He was the husband of Dorothy E. (Gruver) Hoffheins, his wife of 61 years.

Gerald was born December 12, 1937, in Abbottstown, the son of the late George H. and Blanche E. (Freed) Hoffheins.

Gerald was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Abbottstown, the Gettysburg Eagles, and the Gettysburg Moose.  He was a life member of the Abbottstown Fire Company, and the McSherrystown Fish & Game, and was a life-long farmer.  He retired from Thomasville Stone and Lime after 41 years of service.

In addition to his wife Dorothy, Gerald is survived by three daughters, Debora A. Emig and her husband Bob, Brenda L. Hoffheins and Glenda L. Hoffheins, all of Abbottstown, a son, Gregory L. Hoffheins and his wife Debra of Abbottstown, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a sister, Phyllis Morelock of Gettysburg.  He was predeceased by two brothers, Garry and Dale Hoffheins and two sisters, Anna George, and a twin sister who died at birth.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at 11 AM, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 100 E. Water St, Abbottstown, with his pastor, Rev. Shawn Berkebile officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  A viewing will be held at the church on Saturday from 10 AM until the time of the service.  Memorial contributions may be made to the church endowment fund.  Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford, is in charge of arrangements.  Memories may be shared at www.feiserfuneralhome.com.
