E. Arlene (Ritz) Kapp, 87, died Thursday, November 4, 2021, at WellSpan York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Henry S. Kapp, Jr, her husband of 56 years, who died April 30, 2008.
Arlene was born April 13, 1934, in Red Lion, the daughter of the late Sadie (Flinchbaugh) Shoemaker, and the late Howard Ritz.
Arlene was a member of Paradise “Holtzschwamm” E.C.C. in Thomasville, and a co-leader at Roth’s U.C.C. with the Youth Fellowship Group. She was an avid reader, and was formerly employed by her parents at White Horse Diner in Thomasville, and she helped her sister Nancy at Hanover Tennis Club.
Arlene is survived by three daughters, Judy A. Walton and her husband Bill of East Berlin, Debra S. Kapp of Thomasville, and Angela M. Kurtek and her husband Bill of York, four grandchildren, Emily Hoover and her husband Steve, Logan Kurtek and his wife Rebecca, Kelly Reider and her husband Jason, and Adam Walton, two great grandchildren, Keira and Blake Reider, and two sisters, Betty L. Shoemaker and Nancy Katz, both of Dover. She was predeceased by a brother, Richard Shoemaker.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 15, 2021, at 10 AM, at Red Run Church Cemetery, 6623 Davidsburg Rd, East Berlin, with her pastor, Rev. Paul Guiliano officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association of Greater PA, 2595 Interstate Dr, Ste 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
