Carrie "Jenny" Mummert Obituary

Carrie Geneva (Jenny) Mummert, 94, New Oxford, died Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Cross Keys Village – Brethren Home Community after a lengthy illness.

Born July 30, 1926 in Abbottstown, PA, she was a daughter of the late Harry D. and Mary L. Mummert Cooley.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Clair H. Mummert, whom she married on October 12, 1946.

She was a graduate of East Berlin High School class of 1944.

She retired from PNC Bank (previously Farmers & Merchants Bank, and CCNB Bank) in 1988 after nearly 25 years of employment.  Other employment included S Morgan Smith Company (York), Careva Company (York), and William D. Stock Masonry Contractor (New Oxford)

She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, New Oxford, since 1948.  She served as Sunday School Treasurer, Treasurer of the Ladies Sunday School Class, Altar Guild, kitchen volunteer, and various other positions.

Volunteer services and memberships included Conewago Valley-New Oxford AARP Chapter #4370, New Oxford Food Pantry, New Oxford Meals on Wheels, HART Center, and New Oxford Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.  Many evenings would find her watching TV and crocheting, making numerous afghans for family and friends.

She is survived by a son, David C. Mummert and wife Susan, of Chambersburg; a daughter, Diane L. Milcoff, of Spring Grove; three grandchildren:  Amanda Vroom and husband Tom, Nazareth; Adam Milcoff and wife Charlotte, Dover; and Abbie Baylor and husband Adrian, Lancaster; five great grandchildren: Grayson Vroom, Payton Vroom, Joseph Milcoff, Zoe Baylor, and Robert Milcoff; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Clara Mae (“Sis”) Myers, Dillsburg; two brothers, Harold E. (“Buzz”) Cooley, Felton, and Frederick David Cooley who died in infancy; and a son-in-law, Stephen J. Milcoff, Spring Grove.

Memorial services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
