Carolyn M. Wicke, 85, of New Oxford, died after an extended illness at Paramount Personal Care Center on Friday, October 27, 2023. She was the wife of the late John Wicke, Sr.
Carolyn was born July 25, 1938, in Lancaster, the daughter of the late Jacob and Beulah Musser.
Carolyn was the owner of Wicke Office Machines. Carolyn was a long-time member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Oxford, and served in many roles such as church council president, secretary and treasurer. Carolyn enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren’s music concerts, soccer games and piano recitals. Carolyn was an avid reader, and loved to travel abroad with her friends especially to the island of Capri.
Carolyn is survived by a son, John Wicke and his wife Dottie of Hanover, a daughter, Barbara Balas and her husband James of Gettysburg, four grandchildren, Drew Wicke and his wife Leslie, Logan Wicke, Matthew Balas and Elizabeth Balas, and two great grandchildren, Arlo and Zoe. She was predeceased by her twin sister, Marilyn Musser, a daughter Ann Wicke, and a granddaughter Rebecca Balas.
A memorial service will be held Monday, November 6, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 Lincoln Way East, New Oxford, with Pastor Paul Haack officiating. Burial will be private. A visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 10:30 AM until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to First Evangelical Lutheran Church or Adams County Library, 140 Baltimore St, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
