Carmen M. “Nanny” (Vega) Miranda, 95, passed away Saturday, April 3, 2021 at the home of her daughter, surrounded by family. She was the wife of the late Hector M. Miranda, Sr, her husband of 70 years, who died April 3, 2018.
Carmen was born January 5, 1926, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Silverio and Antonia (Reyes) Vega.
Carmen was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbottstown. She was a talented seamstress, loved to sew and do crafts, and enjoyed cooking.
Carmen is survived by a daughter, Ivonne A. Gabrielson and her husband Charles of Abbottstown, a son, Hector M. Miranda, Jr, and his wife Lillian of Clinton, NC, a daughter, Maria del Carmen Miranda of East Berlin, three grandchildren, Chad Gabrielson and his partner Alida, Maribel Davis and her husband William, and Anthony Miranda and his wife Melissa, two great grandchildren, Andrew Miranda, and Alexandra Miranda, and a sister, Flora Vega of San Antonio, TX. She was predeceased by two infant brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 11 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 6084 W. Canal St., Abbottstown, with Rev. Philip Burger officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held Saturday at the church from 10 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN. 38105.
