Calvin E. “Pete” Roland, 90, died Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Homewood at Plum Creek, Hanover. He was the husband of the late Miriam A. (Blatt) Roland, his wife of 44 years, who passed away on September 29, 2005.
Calvin was born June 2, 1930 in Hampton, PA., the son of the late Roy R. and Virgie M. (Warren) Roland.
Calvin was a graduate of Shippensburg University and did graduate work at Western Maryland College and Ball State University for professional certification. Calvin taught as a teacher for 44 years, seven years at New Oxford High School as a Chemistry and Biology teacher, and the remainder as a guidance counselor with the Hanover Public School District. Calvin served 2 years with the U.S. Army, and was a Veteran of the Korean War. He volunteered at Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa FL, and was a member of U.C.C. St. David’s Church of Christ in Hanover and Patmos Lodge No. 348 in Hanover, and Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees.
Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Guthrie Memorial Library, 2 Library Pl. Hanover, PA 17331. Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford, is in charge of arrangements. Memories may be shared at www.feiserfuneralhome.com.
