William H. "Hen" Mowery, Jr, 74, died Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Hanover Hospital.
Hen was born December 24, 1942, in Hanover, the son of the late William H. and Ruthetta M. (Bortner) Mowery, Sr.
Hen was a graduate of Eichelberger High School, where he played football, basketball, baseball and track and field, attended East Stroudsburg University, and served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a former Eagle Scout, and was a member of the McSherrystown Moose, York-Adams Fish & Game, and the Adams Co. Fish & Game. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and was an avid sports fan, with his favorite team being any team his beloved grandson played on.
Hen is survived by a daughter, Billie Jean Long and her husband, Andrew of Abbottstown; and a grandson, Samuel D. Long of Abbottstown. He was predeceased by a sister, Lana Mowery Kelly.
Following cremation, a visitation will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford.
