William (Bill) Maurice Durboraw, 93, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026, in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
Born on September 30, 1932, in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Bill was the son of the late Russell Waybright Durboraw and Louisa (Louise) Wilhide Durboraw. He was a proud ninth-generation American, tracing his lineage back to his ancestor Hugh Durborow, who emigrated from Ilchester, England, in 1684 to join William Penn’s Quakers, serving as a Constable in Chester County, near Philadelphia. Bill grew up deeply rooted in the history of Gettysburg, where his grandfather Will Grant Durboraw, great-grandfather Isaac Newton Durboraw (Civil War veteran), great-great-grandfather Samuel Durboraw (PA State Representative), and great-great-great-grandfather Isaac Newton Durborow all resided.

Bill is survived by his wife, Christine Donaldson Durboraw. He is also survived by his first wife, Joyce Adele Myers Durboraw, with whom he shared a son, Robert Maurice Durborow, born in 1956 in Lebanon, Pennsylvania.

His legacy lives on through his family, including his daughter-in-law, Beverly Suzanne Brown Durborow; his two grandchildren, Allyson Durborow Thomas and Michael William Durborow; and his four cherished great-grandchildren, Patrick (9) & Natalie (5) (children of Allyson & Alex), and Blake (8) & Dylan (4) (children of Michael & Rachel). He is also survived by his niece, Kathy Sterrett, and her husband Mark, and his nephew, Todd Durboraw, and his wife Tina, who are the children of his late brother Melvin and late sister-in-law Carolyn.

Bill finished his career as president of Thomasville Stone & Lime Company (acquired by Medusa Corporation in 1974), rising through the ranks as salesman, sales manager, and vice president. He began his career in agriculture managing a Farm Bureau farm supply store in Bellefonte, PA after graduating from Penn State University in agronomy in 1956. Bill then worked for Hubbard Farms in poultry sales before being hired at Thomasville Stone & Lime Company.
Bill was also active in adventurous activities including snow skiing, tent camping, sailing, and worldwide traveling. He also hosted an annual wine-tasting party for his friends focusing on different wine-producing regions around the world. And he was an enthusiastic youth Sunday School teacher in the Shiloh Lutheran Church.

A memorial service celebrating Bill's long and meaningful life will be held in the spring of 2027 in the Adams/York County, Pennsylvania area. Specific details and a formal announcement regarding the service will be shared later.
