Sylvia A. (Gallagher) Riser, 83, passed Monday, February 2, 2026, at SpiriTrust Lutheran, Gettysburg. She was the wife of the late Melvin J. Riser, her husband of 48 years, who passed January 13, 2020.

Sylvia was born September 14, 1942, in Hanover, the daughter of the late Clarence J. and Elizabeth M. (Kopp) Gallagher.

Sylvia was a member of Sacred Heart Basilica, Hanover.

Sylvia is survived by a son, Shawn M. Riser and his wife Tiffany of York Springs, two grandchildren, Emily C. Riser and Ethan M. Riser, four sisters, Mary L. Ensor of New Oxford, Phyllis M. Miller of Hanover, Patricia M. Gallagher of Shrewsbury and Donna M. Dahr of Davenport, FL, and two brothers, Joseph F. Gallagher and Benjamin J. Gallagher, both of Hanover. She was predeceased by a brother, Frederick E. Gallagher, two sisters, Jane E. Sager and Grace I. Baral, and a grandson-in-law, Alex Belcher.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 11 AM, at Sacred Heart Basilica, 30 Basilica Dr, Hanover, with Rev. Dwight Schlaline officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held on Monday from 9-10:30 AM at Feiser Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford.
