Obituary

On October 3, 2026, the Lord came to take Shirley Ann Calp to heaven. She was 88 years old and was from Abbottstown, PA. She was born in Maryland and was the daughter of the late Margaret and Clarence Miller. She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband, Howard.

Shirley felt fortunate to have a full life of experiences, being loved, having loved, and gratifying accomplishments including being instrumental along with Cookie Rodriquez and Pauline Bernstein in the founding of New Life for Girls in Dover, PA where she worked for many years. She had also worked for the late Harold G. Scheie, founder of the Sheie Institute in Philadelphia. She had been secretary at The Rock Church in York, PA.

She was a member of New Life Assembly of God, East Berlin and The Royal-tea Club.

In addition to her husband, Shirley is survived by her devoted daughter, Susan and husband Terry Snyder of Dover; daughter, Lori A. Firestone Morris of Mechanicsburg, and daughter, Coby L. Sexton of Missouri; step-son, Jeb Calp of Bonneville; and sister, Donna Heindel of York; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her sister, Rosetta Lartz and brothers: Donald, James, and Robert Miller.

Shirley decided not to have public services, but would like everyone to celebrate her life in your own fashion and have a smile about a fun memory. Therefore, services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
