Ruthetta L. "Ruth" (Bortner) Shupp, 89, passed Thursday, December 4, 2025, at her home.  She was the wife of the late D. Glenn Shupp, her husband of 64 years, who passed August 30, 2021.

Ruth was born August 31, 1936, in Spring Grove, the daughter of the late Ervin M. and Hilda M. (Rohrbaugh) Bortner.

Ruth loved her family and was a very proud member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Oxford, where she served on various committees.  She was a graduate of Millersville University, began her teaching career in the Conewago Valley School District and retired from the South Western School District.

Ruth is survived by four daughters, Terri Aquilina and her husband Mike of Bridgeville, Tina Shupp of Westminster, MD, Susan Dennis and her husband Larry of Maynardville, TN, and Sandy Weber and her husband Marc of Hanover, eight grandchildren, Michael Aquilina, Mary Randazzo, Rosemary Wasilki, Grace Aquilina, Bella Aquilina, Teresa Aquilina, Rachel Chaney and Jordyn Weber, eight great grandchildren, Giovanni, Salvatore, Benedetto, Antonio, Rosaria, Maria, Vittorio and Magdelena Ruth, and two sisters, Millie Murray and Joanne Bowers.  She was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Kathy Sarbaugh, three brothers, Clyde, David and Edward Bortner, and four sisters, Miriam Fisher, Rosa Madison, Janet Hughes and Dorothy Stevens.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 11 AM, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 Lincoln Way East, New Oxford, with her pastor, Rev. Joel Hummel officiating.  Burial will be in New Oxford Cemetery.  A viewing will be held at the church on Saturday from 10 AM until the time of the service.  Memorial contributions may be made to the church.  Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford, is in charge of arrangements.  Memories may be shared at www.feiserfuneralhome.com.
