Russell J. Watsic, 70, died Saturday, April 29, 2017 at his residence. He was the husband of Rita A. (Brocklehurst) Watsic, his wife of 37 years.
Russell was born September 22, 1946 in Baltimore City, MD, the son of the late Albert Joseph and Ann Romona (Barton) Watsic.
Russell was a former member of the Arbutus Fire Dept. in Baltimore, MD. He retired, after 30 years of employment, from the Fort Howard Cup Corp, Owings Mills, MD. After moving to Pennsylvania in the late 80's, Russell first joined the Abbottstown Fire Dept., then United Hook and Ladder #33 in New Oxford and later with the East Berlin Liberty Fire Co. #1 where he volunteered as a fire policeman. Russell was currently employed as a school van driver with School Express.
In addition to his wife, Rita, Russell is survived by a daughter, Jeannie Warner and her husband, Wayne of Abbottstown; one grandson, Airman 1st cl. Kyle Warner of Hill A.F.B. Utah; one granddaughter, Bre Warner of Abbottstown; three brothers, Michael Watsic and his wife, Gladys of Pasadena, MD, Melvin Watsic and his wife, Tina of Baltimore, MD and Dana Watsic and his wife ,Sally of Baltimore, MD; one sister, Wendy Watsic of Baltimore, MD; one niece; and one nephew.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Feiser Funeral Home, Inc. 302 Lincolnway West, New Oxford, with the Rev. Elizabeth D. George officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Memories may be shared at www.feiserfuneralhome.com.
