IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rodney W.
Sebright
December 31, 1931 – July 16, 2024
Rodney W. Sebright, 92, of East Berlin, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, after a brief illness at Country Meadows Retirement Community in York. He was the husband of the late Shirley L. (Reynolds) Sebright, who passed away on September 13, 2023.
Rodney was born December 31, 1931 in East Berlin, the son of the late Raymond G. and Nettie (Jacobs) Sebright.
Rodney was a lifelong Adams County dairy farmer who grew up and lived on the six generation family farm until he retired. Rodney was a 1950 graduate of East Berlin High School. He took stewardship of the land and animals on the Sebright family farm very seriously. Throughout his life he avidly pursued and employed the latest farming and dairy techniques by trying new fertilizers and seeds, as well utilizing the latest breeding techniques for his prized Holstein cows. In retirement he did his best to stay active by attending public sales, reading the Lancaster Farmer newspaper, wintering at his Lakeland Florida home, and eating breakfast at local diners. A favorite past time was to meet up with his friends on the porch to catch up on the latest community comings and goings. He also used the perch of his back porch in solitude to watch the deer and keep a wary eye on the family farm just down the hill from his home. Nothing brought him greater joy in his later years than spending time with his grandchildren and even occasionally with his great grandchildren.
Rodney is survived by son, Danny E. Sebright of Biglerville, daughter, Lorainne Aldinger and her husband Lynn of Dillsburg, daughter, Christine C. DeVita and her husband Lorenzo of East Berlin, son, Robby V. Sebright and his wife Jayne of East Berlin; grandchildren, Lauren Steele and her husband Adam of Mechanicsburg; Veronica DeVita of York; Lorenzo DeVita Jr, and his wife Careth of York Springs, ; George, Charles, and Edward Sebright of East Berlin, and great grandchildren, Colton and Orrin Steele of Mechanicsburg. Rodney is also survived by his niece Darylene Lehmer and her husband Terry of Orrtanna, his nephew Raymond Sebright and his wife Molly of Wellsville and numerous cousins. Rodney was predeceased by a sister, Genevieve E. Sebright Bott of York, a brother, Daryl K. Sebright of Dillsburg, and a niece Marilyn Somers.
