Richard A. Janson, 61, passed Monday, March 30, 2026, at his home. He was the husband of Cathy C. (Cave) Janson, his wife of 7 years.
Richard was born November 9, 1964, in Peoria, IL, the son of the late Charles M. Janson, Sr and Barbara (Prohaska) Janson.
Richard was a member of Bay View Baptist Church in Washington, IL. Richard was a very sweet, kind, caring, loving man who loved life and his family. He had a deep love and appreciation for all people and animals. He loved to help people even when he didn't have much himself. He would often buy someone a meal at a Diner where he was eating or give money to those in need. He was great at repairing things and loved working on various projects. He worked on plumbing, electrical and just about everything. He was known as "Mr. Fix It". He loved spending time with family and playing with his three dogs Cher, Zeva and Toby. He enjoyed fishing, camping, cooking, horses, watching wildlife, playing board games, watching UFC fights and he especially loved watching old Westerns.
In addition to his wife Cathy, Richard is survived by his children, Richie Janson of Pekin, IL, Edna May Janson of Clover, SC, Lucas Janson of Pekin, IL, Nakota Horn of Springfield, IL, Ashley Janson of IL, and Carol Janson of New Oxford, PA, a stepson, Daniel Steinhart of New Oxford, PA, two brothers, Charles “Duke” Janson of Peoria, IL and Jeffrey Janson, Sr of East Peoria, IL, three sisters, Nora Janson of Clover, SC, Stacey Summerlin of Plainfield, IL and Deana Janson of Mason City, IL, two half-brothers, Charles Janson, Jr of Bartonville, IL and Stanley Janson of Port Saint Lucie, FL, and four half-sisters, Georgia “Toots” Janson and Jeannetta Deweese, both of Peoria, IL, and Cindy Pomeroy of Canton, IL and Kimberly Randall of Bartonville, IL. He was predeceased by a sister, Shelly Janson, a half-brother, Steven Janson and a half-sister, Connie Janson Sies.
Funeral services will be private. Feiser Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford, is in charge of arrangements. Memories may be shared at www.feiserfuneralhome.com.
