Richard E. Carlson, 65, of East Berlin, died Saturday, December 30, 2017 at his home, following a courageous battle with leukemia. He was the husband of Carol A. (Folcik) Carlson, his wife of 43 years.
Richard was born June 17, 1952 in Southington, CT, the son of the late Frederick Edward and Helen Victoria (Garstka) Carlson
Richard was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Abbottstown, a member of the East Berlin Historical Society, and the Polish Falcons of America. Richard was a shipper with TimBar Packaging & Display Co., (now PCN) New Oxford, for 17 years, and owner and operator of Bechtal Victorian Mansion, "Bed and Breakfast", East Berlin, along with his wife.
In addition to his wife, Carol, Richard is survived by a son, Ryan T. Carlson and his wife Jenny of Southington, CT and two granddaughters; Kahlan Eve and Astrid Helen Carlson, one sister, Linda A. Accarpio and her husband Dominick of Jacksonville, FL., and two nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 11:00 AM, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 6084 W. Canal Rd, Abbottstown, with Rev. Timothy D. Marcoe officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held Saturday at the church from 10 AM until the time of the service.
