Obituary

Peter H. "Pete" Acker, 91, died Saturday, March 24, 2018, at SpiriTrust Lutheran, The Village at Sprenkle Drive in York.  He was the husband of the late Kathleen (Ruppert) Acker, who died May 31, 1999.

Peter was born January 18, 1927, in Halifax Twp., the son of the late Charles E. and Virgie L. (Sheetz) Acker.

Peter served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII where he was involved in the atomic testing on the Marshall Islands.  He was a graduate of Halifax High School, and was a pipe fitter for the PA Railroad, retiring in 1988 from Conrail after 41 years of service.  He was a life member of the Dauphin County Fireman's Association, and a member of the Williams Grove Steam Show Association, the Maryland Historical Steam Society, Sheet Metal Worker's International #520, and the American Legion #0791, in Shiloh.

Peter is survived by two sons, Clyde E. Acker of East Berlin, and Jeffrey B. Acker and his wife Patricia of Dover, two granddaughters, Angela McKown of East Berlin, and Cayce Gilbert of Wellsville, and four great grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a brother, Charles E. Acker, Jr and a sister, Leaphy Shoop.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at 1 PM at the Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 306 Harrisburg St, East Berlin.  Burial will be in East Berlin Union Cemetery.  Viewings will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 6-8 PM, and on Tuesday from 12 PM until the time of the service.  Memories may be shared at www.feiserfuneralhome.com.
