Peter J. French, Sr., 85, of East Berlin passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and caregivers. Born in Orrington, ME, Peter was the beloved son of the late James H. French and Wynona L. (Pierce) French. He was the devoted husband to his high school sweetheart, Josephine L. (Amalfitano) French.

Peter lived a life defined by hard work, service, and dedication to others. A skilled butcher by trade, he also owned and operated several successful businesses throughout his lifetime. His commitment to serving his community and country was evident through his time as a Police Officer, Volunteer Firefighter, 4-H leader, and member of the United States AirForce. A lifelong learner, Peter enjoyed reading, studying history and religion, listening to music, and spending time at his vacation home in Maine. Above all else, Peter’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, and countless memories that will continue through the generations.

In addition to his wife, Peter is survived by his children, Lisa J. Crawford of Hanover, Peter J. French, Jr. (Angela) of Hanover, and James T. French of Red Lion; siblings, Catherine French of NJ, and Ronald French of ME; seven grandchildren, Rachel Walton (Stephen), Ryan Crawford, Samantha French-Gayer (Thomas), Levi French, Peter French, III, Ethan French, and Victoria French; eight great-grandchildren, Lillian Tommaselli, Jackson French-Gayer, Desmond Crawford, Monroe French-Gayer, Quincy French-Gayer, Lincoln French-Gayer, Benjamin Pierce Walton, and Messiah French-Williams; best friend, John “Jack” Coleman. In addition to his parents, Peter was preceded in death by his sister, Jane Blank.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Peter’s Memorial Service at Feiser Funeral & Cremation Care, 306 Harrisburg Street. East Berlin, PA on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
