Marie T. Groft

Marie T. (Smith) Groft, 87, died Monday, May 1, 2017 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Charles I. "Chunk" Groft, Jr, who died April 17, 1997.
Marie was born September 5, 1929, in New Oxford, the daughter of the late Curtis J. and Lillian M. (Pentz) Smith.
Marie was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Oxford, where she was a member of the Rosary Society and the Marion Oxfordites, the Conewago Chapter of AARP, and she was an avid card player.
Marie is survived by four daughters, Stephanie A. Kew and her husband, Victor of Willow Hill, Linda M. Groft of New Oxford, Anita R. Hale and her husband, Scott of Wellsville, and Rosalie M. Diehl of Harrisburg; four sons, Anthony C. Groft of Hanover, Timothy A. Groft and his wife, Judy of Hanover, Thomas J. Groft and his wife, Sherry of Spring Grove, and Ted A. Groft and his wife, Meredeth of Hanover; 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a sister, Shirley Myers of New Oxford. She was predeceased by a sister, Doris C. Smith; and two brothers, Richard A. and Robert H. Smith.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 106 Carlisle St., New Oxford, with the Rev. Fr. Joseph Gotwalt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford, with prayers at 8 p.m. Memories may be shared at www.feiserfuneralhome.com.
