Margaret Irene Myers, 96, joined her husband, Wilford H. Myers, on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, to continue their journey together. The enjoyed 73 years of marriage prior to his passing on April 11, 2013.
Irene, as she was known to family and friends, was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Oxford. She was raised in Gettysburg, the daughter of the late Fannie G. and Howard J. Bowling. She was one of ten children.
Surviving are two brothers, Gilbert Bowling and his wife, Mary of McSherrystown, and Herbert Bowling and his wife, Patricia of Melbourne, FL; three daughters, Brenda Scott and her companion, Jay Megonnell of Harrisburg, Laurie Nimtz and her husband, Bill of Gardners, and Peggy McCormack of New Oxford, with whom Irene lived and was her devoted caregiver; two sons, Wilford Myers, Jr, and his wife, Mary of Hanover, and Dan Myers and his wife, Deb of East Berlin; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Irene's greatest passion in life was her family to whom she was devoted. She was always on the move, working in her flower beds, going for walks, cooking her big meals, sewing for friends and family, traveling with her husband, helping out with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, baking pies and cakes for charities, and always giving her love and support.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 106 Carlisle St, New Oxford, with the Rev. Michael Letteer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincolnway West, New Oxford. Memorial contributions may be made to SpiriTrust Lutheran Homecare and Hospice, 260 W. High St, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
The Myers family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to SpiriTrust Lutheran Homecare and Hospice, and the Visiting Angels Living Assistance for all the help they gave towards Irene's care.
