Lloyd A. Spahr, 69, passed Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at UPMC Hanover Hospital. He was the husband of Merlita (DeGuzman) Spahr, his wife of 47 years.
Lloyd was born August 26, 1955, in Gettysburg, the son of the late Lloyd C. and Hazel E. (Miller) Spahr.
Lloyd retired from the U.S. Air Force after 24 years of service, and was a life member of East Berlin V.F.W. He was part owner of Spahr Family Farms, LLC, and made the best barbeque chicken this side of the Mississippi.
In addition to his wife Merlita, Lloyd is survived by two sons, Mark A. Spahr and his wife Melissa of Tomball, TX, and Allen C. Spahr and his husband Andrew Spahr of Washington, D.C., two grandchildren, Illeana M. Spahr and Elyse M. Spahr, a brother, William J. Spahr and his wife Wanda of East Berlin, and three sisters, Linda M. Glass of TN, his twin sister, Lois A. Phillips of East Berlin, and Diane M. Baker and her husband Doug of Hanover. He was predeceased by a brother, Luther C. Spahr.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 11 AM, at Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford, with Rev. Philip Burger officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 PM. Military honors will be provided by Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the 4H Club of Adams Co, 670 Old Harrisburg Road, Suite 204 Gettysburg, PA 17325, or the VFW Post 8896 Richard J. Gross, 107 E.
