Lawrence "Larry" Ellison, 89, passed Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Methodist Hospital in Cordova, TN. He was the husband of the late Phyllis Ellison, and the late Janet (Pagel) Ellison.
Larry was born December 19, 1932, in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Max and Sherry (Levine) Ellison.
Larry served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Abbottstown, and was active in many church ministries. He worked as a school teacher and Director of Elementary Education in various schools in NY and PA. In his early retirement, Larry managed a few local shoe stores in the York/Hanover area. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, trips to the shore, gardening, writing poetry, and blessing people with his dry sense of humor. Larry loved to encourage people through cards, letters, phone calls, and poetry.
Larry is survived by his children, Debbie Stephens and her husband Steve, David Ellison, and Lauren Jones and her husband Chris, six grandchildren, Dan Stephens, Kim Stephens Garcia and her husband Carlos, Jesse DeShazo and his wife Charis, Dylan Ellison, Rachel Fort and her husband Shawn, and Sarah Ellison, and three great grandchildren, Teresa Garcia, Joaquin Garcia, and Harrison Fort.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at 10 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church, 100 E. Water St, Abbottstown, with Pastor Shawn Berkebile officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. There will be no viewing, however, the family will receive friends at church on Thursday from 9 AM until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the church endowment fund. Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford, is in charge of arrangements.
