Josephine S. "Jo" (Shiflett) Schmidt, 92, of Gettysburg, passed Friday, March 29, 2024 at Shippensburg Rehabilitation & Health Center in Shippensburg. She was the wife of the late James McGee, Walter Schmidt, and Jacob Long.

Jo was born March 3, 1932 in Martinsburg, WV, the daughter of the late Layton and Anna (Haney) Shiflett.

Jo was known for standing in the shadows so that others could shine.

Jo is survived by two sons, Dennis E. Long of Brooksville, Fl, and Jerry D. McGee and his wife Tina of Gettysburg, a daughter, Judy Talbert of Berkely Springs, WV, four grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, three grand dogs, and three sisters, Elizabeth, Virginia and Florence. She was predeceased by a son, Kenny Long, two sisters, Lorraine and Mabel, and a brother Clyde.
