John L. Smith, 75, died Sunday, September 25, 2016, at The Brethren Home Community. He was the husband of the late Nancy M. (Wilkerson) Smith, his wife of 46 years, who died October 21, 2008.
John was born November 21, 1940, in Hanover, the son of the late John L. and Grace M. (Dull) Smith.
John was a member of the New Oxford Social & Athletic Club
John is survived by two daughters, Theresa C. DeShong and her husband Tim, and Sherry E. Markel, all of New Oxford, a son, Richard L. Smith and his wife Elizabeth of New Oxford; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Kermit Smith of Hanover; a sister, Delores Aumen of Hanover; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Shirley Kretz.
