John R. Hess, 54, passed Thursday, February 6, 2025, at his home.  He was the husband of Jaylene L. (Yoder) Hess, his wife of 30 years.

John was born October 11, 1970, in Lancaster, the son of John J. and Bonnie L. (Breighner) Hess of Gettysburg.

John was a member of Bethel Mennonite Church in Biglerville, and attended GBC Church in Gettysburg where he was a part of the men's group.  He was a 1989 graduate of New Oxford High School, a Penn State University Alumni, and a member of DTS fraternity at Penn State.  John was a member and part owner of JOBO Farm, LLC, and a member of HBR Partnership, Land O Lakes Co-op board, past president of Adams County Farm Bureau, and in fall of 2024, he was elected and served as a Mt. Pleasant Township Supervisor.  He loved spending with his family and was passionate for the advancement of agriculture.

In addition to his wife Jaylene and parents John and Bonnie, John is survived by his children, Jalesha M. Fereday and her husband Brett of Hanover, John L. Hess and his wife Courtney of Biglerville, Julie E. Hess of Gettysburg, and Jordan S. Hess of Gettysburg, a granddaughter, Eliza L. Fereday of Hanover, four sisters, Jennie H. Brown and her husband Dale of Gettysburg, Josie M. Riser and her husband Mike of Gettysburg, Jayne N. Sebright and her husband Robby of East Berlin, and Joy N. Widerman and her husband Brock of Gettysburg, and his paternal grandmother, Mildred Shue of Mountville. He was predeceased by a grandchild, baby Hess.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 11 AM, at GBC Church, 95 Fairview Rd, Gettysburg, with Pastor Bill Mummert officiating.  A visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.  Memorial contributions may be made to Farm Bureau and Land O Lakes Leadership.  Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford, is in charge of arrangements.  Memories may be shared at www.feiserfuneralhome.com.
