Jerry LaRue, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at the age of 83. Jerry was a beacon of strength and kindness whose legacy will be carried on by those who loved him.
A proud graduate of the last class of York Springs High in 1960, Jerry was a stalwart member of his community. He chose a life of self-employment, reflecting his independent spirit and unwavering work ethic. Jerry also served proudly in the United States Coast Guard, where he was part of the Search and Rescue team—a role that was perfectly suited to his adventurous and compassionate nature.
Jerry’s love for adventure extended beyond his military service. He was an avid dirt bike and motocross racing enthusiast who also found peace at the beach, loving every moment spent in or near the water. Nothing brought him more joy than sharing these passions with his children and grandchildren, nurturing in them the same love for excitement and joy for life.
Jerry is survived by his dedicated wife, Judi LaRue, who stood by his side throughout their 63 years together. He leaves behind his beloved children, Erik LaRue of Crystal River, FL and Jerri Rider (Chris) of Biglerville, PA; his grandchildren, Ryan Redding (Shawna) of Hanover, PA and Shane Redding of Harrisburg, PA; and his great-Children, Zephyr Redding and Story Redding. Jerry is also remembered fondly by his sister, Sonya Freeburn of York Springs.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, H Jerry LaRue and Stella Mae LaRue and two brothers Larry LaRue and Victor LaRue.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Feiser Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc in New Oxford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those who wish to honor Jerry’s memory consider donations to a charitable organization supporting Dementia Research.
