Janet L. (Duttera) Allamong, wife of the late George H. Allamong & daughter of the late Joseph W. Duttera & Dorothy March Duttera, passed away on Wednesday, July 8 at her home in Cross Keys Village, surrounded by loving family and friends.
She is survived by two children, Jennifer Sciortino and husband Rosario of York, and Philip D. Allamong and wife, Sherry, of Quarryville. She is also survived by four grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Ellen, and a friend and companion, James W. Watson.
Mrs. Allamong was a member of Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ, New Oxford, where she had served as a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, member of the Church Council and a Trustee. She was a member of the Eastern Star #169 in York.
She graduated from new Oxford High School in 1946 and attended Indiana University of PA. Early in her career, she worked in the office of Melvin J. Sheffers in Hanover. Mrs. Allamong retired from Gettysburg College with 26 years of service.
Her favorite activities include cooking, baking, gardening, antiquing, and spending time with friends and family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Janet’s Memorial Service at Feiser Funeral & Cremation Care, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford, PA on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 10:00 am. Inurnment will be held at New Oxford Cemetery.
