James E. Wagner, 82, formerly of East Berlin, died Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at The Brethren Home Community. James was born August 9, 1934 in York, the son of the late William W. and Ruth M. (Fahs) Wagner. James was a member of Zwingli U.C.C. in East Berlin, where he served as Sunday School treasurer for many years, and he retired from IBM. He served in the U.S. Air Force, and was a member of Liberty Fire Co. #1 in East Berlin, where he served as treasurer for the ambulance club, East Berlin V.F.W., East Berlin Fish & Game, Tall Cedars, Scottish Rite, and Hebron Lodge #465, New Oxford, where he was a 33rd degree Mason. James is survived by a daughter, Joi Lynn Wagner of Spring Grove; two sons, James Wagner of York, and Greg Wagner of WV; a step son, Roger Meyers of York New Salem; a step daughter, Wendy Lease of East Berlin; four grandchildren; four step grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; and a brother, William Wagner of Dover and a close friend, Mary Rohrbaugh of Hanover. He was predeceased by a brother, Donald Wagner. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Zwingli U.C.C., 403 W. King St, East Berlin, with his pastor, the Rev. Dr. Margaret J. Wise, officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the church building fund or to Liberty Fire Company, 101 Locust St., East Berlin.
