James L. "Jim" Poist, 77, passed Monday, April 22, 2024, at UPMC Hanover Hospital.  He was the husband of Pamela S. (Uffleman) Poist, his wife of 51 years.

Jim was born October 14, 1946, in Hanover, the son of the late George H. and Mary G. (Sneeringer) Poist, Sr.

Jim served in the U.S. Army, with the 585th Engineer Company, during Vietnam, and was past president of New Oxford Fire Company and Adams County Fire Association. He was a life member of East Berlin V.F.W., McSherrystown Home Association, and New Oxford Social & Athletic Club, where he served on the board and was a past president, and was a member of Clarence Moose Lodge #1565, and the Democratic Club.

In addition to his wife Pam, Jim is survived by a daughter, Nicole L. Brower and her husband Doug of GA, four brothers, Francis P. Poist and his wife Roberta of TX, David A. Poist and his wife Diane, and Daniel J. Poist and his wife Donna, all of New Oxford, and Philip J. Poist and his wife Jill of McSherrystown, and a sister, Jane M. Poist of New Oxford.  He was predeceased by a daughter, Natalie A. Poist, and four brothers, Robert J. Poist, Thomas G. Poist, George H. Poist, Jr, and Donald F. Poist.

Following cremation, a visitation will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024, from 6-8 PM, at Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.  Memories may be shared at www.feiserfuneralhome.com.
