J. Ken Smith, 91, died Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Genesis Healthcare. He was the husband of Rose (Valenzisi) Smith, his beloved wife of 65 years.
Ken was born January 8, 1926 in Detroit, MI, the son of the late John F. and Rachel (Hutchinson) Smith.
Ken enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII, and was a member of Christadelphian Chapel in Lancaster, and the Experimental Aircraft Association (EEA), Chapter #1041 in Gettysburg. He was employed as a textile and wallpaper designer and supervisor and retired from Eisenhart Wallcovering in Hanover. Ken was an example of steadfast faith for all who knew him.
Ken was the devoted father to Jonathan Smith and his wife, Shirley Ragbeer, Robert C. Smith and his wife, Kate Gill, Timothy G. Smith and his wife, Nancy Weaver, David Smith, Rachel Smith Black, and Nathan Smith. Ken was also blessed with seven grandchildren, Naomi Smith, Aaron Ireland, Jessica Legarza, Stephanie Miller, Elizabeth Bein, Natalie Smith, and William Smith; four great-grandchildren; nine nieces and nephews; 20 great-nieces and nephews; and 13 great-great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert M. Smith.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 2 p.m., at the Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford. Burial will be in New Oxford Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Friday at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the , Greater PA Chapter, 3544 N.
