Harry E. Merrel, 87, passed Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at his home. He was the husband of the late Joan Marie (Hockensmith) Merrel, his wife of 50 years, who passed October 10, 2010.

Harry was born June 7, 1937, in Wilkes-Barre, the son of the late Harry E. II, and Althea (Frankenfield) Merrel.

Harry enjoyed playing guitar, had an auctioneer license and was a big Trump supporter. Harry was employed with Timbar (now PCA), then Hanover Packaging and later retired from Pretzel Plus as a truck driver.

Harry is survived by a daughter, Deborah A. Hagerman and her husband Jeffrey of Hanover, a son, James A. Merrel of East Berlin, a daughter, Brenda M. Kirby of East Berlin, and a son, Thomas E. Merrel and his wife Joyce, seven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Robert A. Merrel, a brother, John Merrel, a sister, Jean Bettger, and his beloved dog, Topper.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at 11 AM, at Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford, with Pastor Ed Brower officiating. Burial will be in the Pines Church Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 10 until the time of the service.
