Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Glenn R. Showvaker, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who left this world on Friday, December 20, 2024, in Gettysburg, PA, at the age of 91. Glenn has now been reunited with his wife, Mary Lou (Rhodes) Showvaker, who preceded him in death on January 24, 2009.

Born in Gettysburg on August 9, 1933, Glenn was the son of Harry J. and Kathryn I. (Ditzler) Showvaker. During his life, he found spiritual inspiration as a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Gettysburg.

Glenn led a rich and varied life, serving his country honorably as a Korean War veteran. He displayed his entrepreneurial spirit in his successful plastering business, applying his craftsmanship to many homes and buildings in Adams County and the surrounding areas. He also raised rabbits, guinea pigs, goats, and doves, displaying his love for animals and his diverse interests.

One of Glenn's greatest joys was tending to his orchards, where he lovingly cultivated his fruit trees. His green thumb was well-known in the community, and people came from far and wide for the delicious apples and peaches he grew.

Glenn's legacy lives on through his children: Curtis L. Showvaker and his wife Phyllis of Greer, SC; Brian K. Showvaker of Surprise, AZ; Melanie A. Krajcsik and her husband William of Camp Hill; David A. Showvaker and his wife Lisa of Manchester, MD; and Tracy L. Showvaker and his wife Bonnie of Littlestown. His family tree flourished with 13 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren, each a testament to the love he shared.

He is also survived by his sisters, Donna Babin of Houston, TX, and Shirley Ann Hahn and her husband Fred of Spring Grove, as well as his brother, Jay Showvaker and his wife Shirley of Hanover. Glenn was preceded in death by his sister, Geraldine Harner, and brothers, James Showvaker and Leon Showvaker.

A celebration of Glenn's life will be held at a later date. Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, located at 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford, is entrusted with the arrangements.

Glenn is now experiencing the joys of Heaven with the Lord Jesus Christ. May his family find comfort in their shared memories and the legacy of hard work, entrepreneurship, and the bountiful harvest of the future generations he leaves behind.
