Ferman J. Helmstetter, 86, passed Saturday, May 7, 2022, at UPMC Hanover Hospital.  He was the husband of Gloria E. (Elliott) Helmstetter, his wife of 58 years.

Ferman was born January 4, 1936, in Ellerslie, MD, the son of the late John J. and Edna P. (Shroyer) Helmstetter.

Ferman was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbottstown.  He was a 1954 graduate of LaValle High School, a 1962 graduate of Frostburg State, a 1967 graduate of Loyola College in MD, and served in the U.S. Air Force.

In addition to his wife Gloria, Ferman is survived by a daughter, T. Lynn Helmstetter of Reisterstown, MD, a daughter-in-law, Molly Helmstetter of Abbottstown, two grandchildren, Grant and Madeline Helmstetter, and a sister, Anna Mae Keidel of LaValle, MD.  He was predeceased by a son, Glenn E. Helmstetter.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at 11 AM, at Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford, with Rev. Philip Burger officiating.  Burial will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Cumberland, MD on Friday.  A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 PM.  Memories may be shared at www.feiserfuneralhome.com.
