Ernest J. “Ernie” Farley, 77, passed Monday, February 2, 2026, at UPMC Hanover Hospital. He was the husband of Brenda K. (Crawford) Farley, his wife of 57 years.
Ernie was born December 10, 1948, in Hanover, the son of the late Ernest J. and Beatrice N. (Wallet) Farley, Sr.
Ernie was proud to serve the Hanover Community in the jewelry industry for most of his life including 44 years at Farley’s Jewelers. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves, was a member of Hebron Lodge #143, Chambersburg and Hanover Country Club, where he loved playing golf with the “Hoodlums”, and he was a life member of McSherrystown Home Association. Ernie was an avid golfer and boater, and enjoyed spending time at his second home in Ocean City, MD.
In addition to his wife Brenda, Ernie is survived by a son, Erik J. Farley and Lisa Wood, five grandchildren, Madlyn, Camryn, Jordyn, Lexie and Brandon, two brothers, Michael Farley and his wife Ann and Patrick Farley, all of Hanover, and a sister, Barbara Hare and her husband Joseph of PA. He was predeceased by a brother, John Farley.
Following cremation, funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 11 AM, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 100 E. Water St, Abbottstown, with Rev. Shawn Berkebile officiating. There will be no viewing, however, the family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8 PM at St. John’s, and on Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church Endowment Fund, or to UPMC Foundation, Farley Family Fund, PO Box 8700, Harrisburg, PA 17105, which supports cancer programs and patient care services in the Hanover area.
