Obituary

Eric M. Sterner, 33, of East Berlin, PA, passed away on June 1st, 2024. He was born September 16th, 1990, to Tim & Tracy Sterner in Gettysburg, PA.

Eric, a servant-hearted, generous, and compassionate friend and church member, is survived by his father, Tim Sterner; sister, Ashley Sterner; her boyfriend, Paul Castle; nephew, Nolyn Castle; niece, Gracelyn Castle; and grandmother, Edith Lockamy. He was predeceased by his mother, Tracy Sterner; and grandfather; Talmadge Lockamy.

Eric was a passionate volunteer at Freedom Valley Church, where he was a long-time member. You could either find him at home, making meals for his family, playing video games, or reading his Bible, or at church, volunteering with youth ministry, cleaning, setting up chairs and tables for an event, running a livestream, attending a group, or praying for the students. He was an invaluable part of church life, and had a generous servant's heart. He loved to cook and always participated in the church's fun, competitive cooking events as well. He always showed up for the people he loved, and was ministering to, attending birthday parties, graduations, and baby showers, as well as the youth student's sporting events. Eric had a major health incident in 2018, and would tell anyone who would listen that God saved him, and gave him more years miraculously, so that he could spread the word that God loves you!

His impact will be forever felt by his family, his friends, and his co-workers, at Five Loaves Sandwiches, on the New Oxford square. Tom Yurkanin, General Manager, states, "Eric was the ideal employee. I witnessed him work hard everyday to grow and develop his work ethic and skills. He'd always ask me if there were any areas he could focus on to become more efficient. He had a drive to be the best version of himself he could be and never complained even once. He was just happy to be part of the team. His coworkers and customers loved him so much and he will be truly missed. He was a joy to his coworkers and customers alike."

A memorial service will take place at Freedom Valley Church, 3185 York Rd, Gettysburg, PA 17325, on Friday, July 19th at 6pm.   In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the family to help cover expenses.  Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford is in charge of arrangements.
