Edith (Anthony) Nicoll, 87, of New Oxford, went to meet the Lord May 17, 2016, at the Brethren Home Community. She was the wife of the late James Nicoll, Jr. Edith was born September 22, 1928 in Littlestown, the daughter of the late Levere and Rosie (Copenhaver) Anthony.
Edith was a member of the New Life Assembly of God Church in East Berlin, a homemaker, and a volunteer with the Pal program where she served as a cook. Edith will be lovingly remembered for her unrelenting faith, devotion to family, sense of humor, and love of cooking and baking. She loved reading her Bible daily and watching NASCAR racing and cooking shows.
Edith is survived by five sons, Tom Trone and his wife Pam of Hanover, Mike Trone and his wife Michelle of New Oxford, Joseph Trone and his wife Sandy of Hanover, Daniel Trone and his wife Annette of Dover, and Keith Trone and his companion Robin of East Berlin; five daughters, Donna Walmer and her husband Tom of Hanover, Sally Hull and her husband Bob of Hanover, Cathy Herrell and her companion Mike of New Oxford, Becky Kint and her husband Leo of New Oxford and Darlene Hyde and her companion Kathy of New Oxford, 12 grandchildren and step grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Levere Anthony, Jr. of Hanover. Edith was predeceased by a daughter, Jackie Shaffer; a granddaughter, Michelle Frock; a great-grandson, Samuel Walmer; two brothers, Larry Anthony and George Anthony; three sisters, Cass Weaver, Dorothy Copenhaver and Ruth Wambaugh; three cats, Scooter, Buttons and Precious, and her faithful departed dog, Spartan, all of whom she is reunited with in heaven.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at the Nicarry Meeting House, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, with Pastor Joel Everhart officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Hanover. A viewing will be held Friday at the Nicarry Meeting house from 12:30 until the time of the service. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, David Hull, Joseph Trone, Jr., Levere Anthony, Shawn Kint, Jamie Hull, and Bobby Hull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Brethren Home Foundation, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, PA 17350; or S.P.C.A. of Adams Co.,11 Goldenville Rd., Gettysburg, PA 17325.
