Obituary

Doris Jean (Myers) Stock, 97, passed Thursday, January 4, 2024, at The Brethren Home Community, New Oxford. She was the wife of the late James K. Stock, her husband of 67 years, who passed December 7, 2017.

Doris Jean was born June 25, 1926, in New Oxford, the daughter of the late Luther S. and Nellie L. (Slaybaugh) Myers.

She worked alongside her husband at the family business, Eicholtz Company in New Oxford, until they both retired.

A woman of deep faith, she was a lifelong member of St. Paul's U.C.C. in New Oxford, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. She was also a member of the Order of The Eastern Star, White Rose Chapter # 360, York.

Doris Jean was a member of the East Berlin, New Oxford, Adams County and Hanover Historical Societies and throughout their lives she and her husband Jim spent many happy hours collecting antiques. Above all, she treasured her family and enjoyed annual trips with her children and grandchildren to Williamsburg, Virginia.

Doris Jean is survived by a son, Alan J. Stock of Hanover, a daughter, Louise S. Gebhart and her husband Jason of York, two grandchildren, Lindsey Mummert Rocks and her husband Andrew of Ambler, and Mark A. Mummert of Washington, DC, three great grandchildren, Claire Rocks, Carter Rocks and Colton Rocks, and a sister, Joyce M. Durboraw of New Oxford. She was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth A. Stock, a brother, Nyle L. Myers, and two sisters, Geraldine M. Alleman and A. Louise Wentz.

The family would like to express their deep gratitude for the wonderful care Doris Jean received from The Brethren Home Community, the Visiting Angels, and family friend/caregiver Lois Miller.
