Donald L. Harper, 95, of York, entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 16, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Born in York, Donald was the son of the late W. Eugene and Annadell (Torbert) Harper. He was the beloved husband of the late Esther (Wilt) Harper, with whom he shared a life filled with love and cherished memories.
A man of deep faith, Donald was a devoted Christian and a member of Harmony Grove Church in Dover. His faith was an important part of his life, providing him with strength, comfort, and guidance throughout his years. Donald dedicated 40 years of hard work and service as a union crane operator for Voith before retiring. Beyond his career, he found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed repairing small engine parts, gardening, working on puzzles, cheering for Penn State football, and relaxing while watching his favorite Westerns.
Though he will be deeply missed, Donald leaves behind a loving family who will forever treasure his memory. He is survived by his granddaughters, Jade King (Ben) of York and Megan Waggner (Andy) of Manchester; and his great-granddaughters, Nora Mundorff, Lydia Mundorff, and Isabelle Taylor. In addition to his beloved wife and parents, Donald was preceded in death by his sons, Richard Harper and Donald Harper, Jr.; his adopted son, Joshua Miller; three sisters and two brothers.
Donald’s long life was marked by faith, dedication, and the love of family that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May he find eternal peace in the presence of his Lord and Savior, reunited with those who went before him.
A graveside service honoring Donald’s life will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Holtzschwamm Union Cemetery, 3244 Church Road, Thomasville, PA.
