Donald L. Diehl, 87, died Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at his home. He was the husband of Joyce Irene (Ogden) Diehl, his wife of 35 years.
Donald was born September 16, 1930 in Glen Rock, the son of the late George Edward and Mary Blanche (Bull) Diehl.
Donald was an Airman 1st. Class with the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean War, and was a member of the Kirkland Air Force Base traveling Baseball team. Donald was an Umpire and coached the New Oxford Little League baseball teams for over 20 years, capping his last year of coaching with a 20-0 win record. He was President of both the New Oxford Little League for 8 years, and the Hanover Full Gospel Businessman Organization. Donald was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church, and the Intercessory Prayer Group. Donald retired from P.H. Glatfelter's Co, of Spring Grove October 1, 1993.
In addition to his wife, Irene, Donald is survived by a daughter, Donna Lou Benton and her husband Robert of Ft. Pierce, FL, a son, Shane Allen Diehl and his wife Jennifer of Hanover, two step daughters; Dr. Laura Stephenson of State College and Beth Stephenson of Edgewater, MD, a step son, William Stephenson of Melbourne, FL, nine grandchildren; Kadri, Kori, Tyler, Ethan, Ellie, Rachel, William, Emma, and Issac, one great grandson, Rory, a sister, Doris Groupe of Hanover, three brothers; Robert Diehl and his wife Josephine of Spring Grove, Richard Diehl and his wife Tomi of Hanover, and Larry Diehl and his wife Carolyn of Frederick, MD, and numerous nieces. Donald was predeceased by a son, David L. Diehl and a brother, Dean Diehl.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 16, 2018, at 12:00 PM, at the Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincolnway West, New Oxford, with Pastor Gary Shaffer officiating. Burial will be in New Oxford Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by Allied Veterans Group of Hanover. A viewing will be held Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the funeral home from 6-8 PM, and on Sunday, at the funeral home, from 11AM until the time of the service.
