IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dawson W.
Shelley
July 30, 1936 – September 3, 2017
Dawson W. Shelley, 81, of Gettysburg, died Sunday, September 3, 2017, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Debra M. (Rondeau) Shelley, his wife of 40 years, who died June 26, 2017.
Dawson was born July 30, 1936, in York, the son of the late Roy F. and Minnie (Beaverson) Shelley.
Dawson was a 1954 graduate of Red Lion High School, and was a former manager at Acme Markets. He spent 36 years as owner/operator of Shelley's Country Nook alongside his wife, with their specialty for finding unique antiques to offer their devoted customers. Those customers were the reason they decided not to retire several years ago, as they decided they would miss all the friends they had made over the years in their store and at the many craft shows which they participated in multiple states.
Dawson is survived by a son, Brian Shelley and his wife Cindy of Erie, a daughter, Lori Hogue and her husband Larry of Dover, a stepson, Donald L. Milhimes, Jr, and his wife Theresa of Gettysburg, three grandchildren, Alexander Shelley, Samuel Ambrose and Racheal Ambrose, a great granddaughter due to arrive in December, and two brothers, Donald Shelley and Darvin Shelley and his wife Jane. He was predeceased by two brothers, Dwight and Dale Shelley, and a sister, Paul Mae Wakefield.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017, at 10 AM, at the Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford, with Rev. Scott A. Sager officiating. Burial will be in the Pines Church Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8 PM. Memories may be shared at www.feiserfuneralhome.com.
