Obituary

Daryl M. (Toot) King, 88, peacefully went to be with her heavenly father, with her loving family by her side, on Friday, August 30, 2024, at The Brethren Home Community.  She was the loving wife of the late Robert W. King, her husband of 66 years, who passed December 22, 2020.

Daryl was born July 22, 1936, in Hanover, the daughter of the late Ruth (Kalbaugh) Tanner and the late Walter Toot.

Daryl was a member of Upper Conewago Brethren Church, Abbottstown, and was employed at Everybody's Press, Double Day Co., and The Brethren Home Community as a CSA.  She was also a homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother, and her greatest joy was spending time with her family.  She enjoyed reading, music, singing, gardening, cooking, baking, volunteering, and helping and serving others.

Daryl is survived by four daughters, Judith A. Stine and her husband Roger of Dover, Susan R. Kehr of East Berlin, Lucinda M. Miller and her husband Lester of East Berlin, and Carol E. Schildt and her husband Dwane of Abbottstown, 17 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and a sister, Christina Krug and her husband Jeffrey of Darlington, SC.  She was predeceased by a grandson, Benjamin A. Stine, two sisters, Shirley Weaver and Deborah Ditch, and a brother, Ellsworth Tanner, Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 11 AM, at The Brethren Home Community Outdoor Pavilion, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, with Bro. Dwane Schildt and Bro. Allen Nell officiating.  Burial will be in Mummert's Church Cemetery, Abbottstown.  A viewing will be held at the pavilion on Friday from 10 AM until the time of the service.  Memorial contributions may be made to The Brethren Home Foundation, PO Box 128, New Oxford, PA 17350, or to Children's Aid Society, 343 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford, PA 17350, or to American Cancer Society, PO Box 42040, Oklahoma City, OK, 73123.  Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford, is in charge of arrangements.  Memories may be shared at www.feiserfuneralhome.com.
