Darlene M. (Walker) DeShong, 81, passed Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at The Gardens at Gettysburg. She was the wife of the late Arnold R. DeShong, who passed December 30, 2011.

Darlene was born June 27, 1944, in Gettysburg, the daughter of the late Charles H. and Mary J. (Caldwell) Walker, Sr.

Darlene was a member of New Oxford Social & Athletic Club, served as a notary for many years, and was employed by Shirks Hardware.

Darlene is survived by a son, Terry H. Gladfelter of Gettysburg, a daughter, Robin E. Golden of New Oxford, three stepsons, Michael L. DeShong, Timothy S. DeShong and David T. DeShong all of New Oxford, four grandchildren, Cheyanne, Alex, Brandon and Austin, and three great grandchildren, Cammi, Charles and Caridwen. She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Kenneth Golden, a brother, Charles Walker and a sister Shirley Walker.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at 1 PM, at Family Life Church of God, 233 Carlisle St, New Oxford, with Pastor Kevin Wells officiating. Burial will be in New Oxford Cemetery, 4971 York Rd, New Oxford on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 1 PM.
