Curtis R. Mayer, 80, passed Thursday, May 16, 2024 at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital. He was the husband of Shirley A. (Leppo) Mayer, his wife of 52 years.
Curtis was born April 10, 1944, in Gettysburg, the son of the late Glenn R. and Betty J. (Kint) Mayer.
Curtis served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war and retired from New Oxford Container after 36 ½ years of service. He was a life member of the New Oxford Social & Athletic Club and McSherrystown Home Association. Curtis was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed hunting.
In addition to his wife Shirley, Curtis is survived by a daughter Laura J. Klunk and her husband William of Abbottstown, a son, Curtis R. Mayer II, and his wife Jen of Gettysburg, a grandson, Justin Klunk of Spring Grove, a brother, Jim Mayer and his wife Marlene of Washington, and a sister, Mary Ann Baugher and her husband Eugene of New Oxford. He was predeceased by a brother, Harold Kint.
A viewing will be held at Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 from 5 until 8 PM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr, Tampa, FL, 33069 or Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS, 66675.
